Anyone heard of Eric Ward? If you haven’t you’re either new to SEO and link building or been living under a rock some where!

Eric Ward has been doing link building forever and is probably known as one of “the” top experts in the field if not the top expert.

As you can imagine, Eric’s services don’t come cheap so when he gives any type of interview or opinion it’s nearly always a must read.

Small Business Failing To Invest In Search Marketing

Microsoft has recently put out an interesting on small businesses thoughts and willingness to use search marketing and ppc.

Although the report could hardly be called representitive of small business (400 sample size), it does give a decent snap shot on why small businesses are not using SEM.

“The study revealed that 59 percent of small businesses with Web sites don’t currently use paid search marketing, and of those, 90 percent have never even attempted it.”

• Removes a large proportion of the usual time it takes to find backlink resources. One of my main comments has always been – “SEO is not hard just time consuming”.
• A simple to use interface with clear instructions on how to complete each task quickly and effectively.
• Both the “competitive” and “buzz” tasks look to be highly effective in building backlinks to your index page and deeper pages that are on theme.
• The main pro is definitely saving the small business owner time in finding appropriate backlinks.

The Business Year Ahead – 2009

Well it’s a new year and we’re back into it already. Just spending this week catching up and planning for the year ahead.

I hope everyone had a relaxing time over Christmas and the new year!

I personally find this time of year a great time to actually remove yourself from your computer or away from the desk and take note of how the previous year went.

What was done well, what could have been improved, what business goals do you have for the year, how do you hope to achieve them?

I always find planning and mapping these items out with a defined time line is the best way to go.
